About the Department

  • The Department of History was established in   1975 with a vision to provide the students with the knowledge of History which shall help them to lead good life. Since its inception, the Department of History has prepared the students to obtain various jobs in the Administrative services, teachers ,professor and Students who have completed their higher studies in Manasa Gangothri, Mysore and other University centers. Many Alumni of the Department have contributed to the Knowledge of History.
  • A well-established learning infrastructure of  the college supports our department for all teaching-learning activities.
  • Our faculty is using ICT enabled blended teaching methods to enrich the learning experience of student.
  • The department has a standard set of Programme Specific Outcomes and Course Outcomes.
  • Realising the global importance of the subject the management has made ‘History’ a common and compulsory subject in B.A degree program.
  • CBCS curriculum is offered, with a choice of elective papers along with compulsory papers .
  • NEP-2020is being implemented from the current academic year 2021-22.
  • History books is total no of 2568  available in the college library  and no of books title 1785.
  • The department has been achieving a good academic result every year
  • We are trying to achieve overall development of the students to meet the expectations to support their career and to use the knowledge of History for their future endeavor.

VISION of the Department

  • Any Knowledge is incomplete without the knowledge of History”& “Man learns lessons from history and life”- are famous sayings. Thus, History is a branch of knowledge having the most ancient antiquity and the most radical modernity. This branch of knowledge has been the most inquisitive subject of fascination and investigation. It is not a record of document of wars – success and failure . Not a report of chronological events, but actually a manifestation of human progress, depicting the failure and glories of the past. It is the knowledge which persuades man to create a better logical and human future for any generation. Man learns by past experiences and constructive process of positive ideas which  have been responsible for all human achievements hither to. Therefore, the vision of the department  is to carve out a picture of creativity and development as essential features for Human progress.

MISSION of the Department

  • A vision creates a goal towards which we have to make a meaningful and purposeful journey. The department envisages the mission to materialize the purpose. Our guidelines can be conveniently formulated to the following tradable principles.
  • To make History an inter connected subject matter, tracing links from the most ancient period to the present world.
  • To create History as a holistic human organization.
  • Teaching History as a tool and technique to understand basic human nature.
  • To enable the students to analyze every dynamic situation with a Historical approach.
  • To develop an inquisitive mind among the students   in relation to understanding the relevance of facts and evidence.
  • To develop a sense of probing documents, evicting historical monuments.
  • To develop the ability to examine and verify the evidence before arriving at an inference about human activities.
  • To teach History by subjecting the students to empirical approach by conducting tours, visits to Historical places.
