About the Department

  • The Department of Undergraduate Geography was established in the year 1975 along with the inception of the college
  • A well-established learning infrastructure of the college supports our department for all teaching-learning activities

  • The department has a standard set of Programme Specific Outcomes and Course Outcomes
  • CBCS curriculum is offered, with a choice of elective papers along with compulsory papers
  • NEP-2020 is being implemented from the current academic year 2021-22
  • Geography books with 1705 available in the college library
  • The department has been achieving a good academic result every year
  • We are trying to achieve overall development of the students to meet the expectations to support their career and to use the knowledge of physics for their future endeavor

Objectives:

Effective Teaching Learning process, Empowering students’ mind with novel scientific ideas, Motivating the  students to pursue higher studies in Geography,  to develop research aptitude, to encourage students to actively participate in co -curricular  activities,  to build up leadership qualities, to inculcate values like dedication, social commitment, hard work, truthfulness, self respect,   respect for one another, team work …..

  • To make fundamental contributions to the advancement of geographic science by: Conducting disciplinary and integrative research in the physical and social sciences that spans local to global scales, with an emphasis on a geospatial perspective of our changing planet and its sustainability.
  • Equipping  graduate students to meet the challenges associated with the continuing evolution of geographic science while providing them with vibrant and fulfilling educational experiences.
  • Applying geographic science to societal and environmental issues in our state, the nation and the global community.

Strengths:

  • Department has Good academic culture.
  • Department has qualified staff, 01- K SET Qualified, 01 Ph.D awarded.
  • Department has well equipped laboratory viz. Weather Instruments, graphical Instrument, Area Calculating and Mapping Instruments, Surveying Instrument, Drawing Instrument etc.
  • Department has teaching student advance syllabus viz. GIS, Remote Sensing, Computer application in Geography etc.

Weakness:

Student of the department having deprived backward region.

  • Less number of student placements
  • Department has no separate non-teaching staff to maintain department and helping in practical manner.

Opportunities :
